CVS transaction from last week

Yes, I'm slacking. Sorry about that.

And I need some help with this receipt. Something isn't adding up to me.

Here is my CVS transaction from Friday, 7/10/09.

Dawn soap - $1 (regular price $1.99)
Dawn soap - $1 (regular price $1.99)
CVS pantyliner - $0.89
Head & Shoulders shampoo - $4.99 (regular price $5.49)
Head & Shoulders conditioner - $4.99 (regular price $5.49)
Schick Intuition 3ct refill - $10.49
Schick Intuition 3ct refill - FREE (regular price $10.49 - BOBOF)
Covergirl Trueblend foundation - $8.49*
Covergirl Trueblend powder - $9.49*
Covergirl Outlast lip color - $9.99*

Non-sale price: $64.80
Sale price: $38.36

*I swear these were supposed to be on sale for $5/each but they didn't ring up that way and I just noticed it.

-$0.20 Dawn coupon
-$0.20 Dawn coupon
-$1 Covergirl coupon
-$2 Covergirl coupon
-$5.49 Head & Shoulders BOGOF coupon
-$3 CVS $3 off $15 coupon (It was expired but apparently the local CVS doesn't care if you use expired CVS issued coupons!!!!!!!!)
-$3 ECB
-$4 ECB
-$4.98 ECB
-$5 ECB
-$10 ECB
= -35.87

So it should be 38.36 -35.87 = $2.49 OOP, right? Wrong. I paid $16.90 OOP. I don't get it. Now, I know that I am not the best at math but this just do not make sense to me. Please help me if you can.

Update: So my math skills are not my finest and I know that. Apparently, the sale price adds up to $51.33 and the coupons add up to $38.87 but the $3 expired coupon didn't come off of the final price. Total price is $15.46 plus tax and that puts me at the $16.90. Thanks for the help ladies!

CVS deals and ideas

For a pretty complete listing of the ECB deals this week check out Good Deal Gal and Perfectly Provident. I don't have a lot of time to compile all of them right now, so I'm posting the ones I like the best.

Buy $15 of Covergirl products and get $5 ECBs. Use $1 and $2 Covergirl coupons from the 7/5 and older P&G inserts. Final price varies based on products and coupons.

Intuition razor refills are BOGOF.

CVS 22 count pantyliner is $0.89 and earns $0.89 ECBs.

Dawn dish liquid is 2/$2 and earns $1 ECB. Use the $0.20 coupon from the 7/5 P&G insert. So if you have one coupon, the price is 2/$1.80 and earned $1 ECB.

Head & Shoulders is on sale for $4.99 and earned $2 ECBs (limit 3). Use the BOGOF coupon from the 7/5 P&G insert. Get 2 bottles for $4.99 and earn $4 ECBs.

Here is my game plan:

$15 worth of Covergirl products (I need foundation and powder)
1 Head & Shoulders shampoo $4.99
1 Head & Shoulders conditioner $4.99
CVS pantyliners $0.89
2 Dawn dish liquid $2

- $0.20 Dawn coupon from 7/5 PG
- $4.99 (BOGOF) Head & Shoulders coupon from 7/5 PG
- $3/$15+ CVS coupon
Total Estimate: $18.68

I've got some ECB's to use. I know I have a $10 ECB and a $4.98 ECB and some others. My total out of pocket is TBD based on Covergirl final pricing, additional Covergirl coupons, and additional ECBs I've got in my stash.

Actual CVS transaction on 6/16/09

First off, the sunglasses prices at CVS started at $10.99 and not $5.99 like the ad said. Liars.

Aveeno Positively Ageless lotion - $7.00
Aveeno Positively Ageless sunscreen with bonus lip care - $10.99
Aveeno Positively Ageless sunscreen with bonus lip care - $10.99
Purex 3-in-1 sheets - $6.99
5 4x6 prints - $1.45
Sunglasses - $10.99
Sunglasses - $10.99

Subtotal: $59.40
- $1 ECB
- $5 ECB
- $1 Purex coupon
- $4 CVS coupon
- $10 Aveeno coupon
Subtotal after coupons: $38.40
Tax: $2.97
Total out of pocket: $41.37

Including sale prices and coupons I saved $24.99 today.

I earned:
$2 ECB for Purex
$10 ECB for Aveeno
$10 ECB for sunglasses
$3 off of $15+ purchase

I've got the following in my stash:
$3 off of $15+
$3 off of $15+
$3 off Venus Embrace blades
$1 off Softsoap
$1 off Aveeno shave care

I am wondering if I should take the Aveeno Positively Ageless items and exchange them for regular Aveeno items that are cheaper. I also picked up some Aveeno $2 coupons when I was in CVS from their counter. I wonder if I can get more bang for my buck that way. I just looked on CVS.com and the regular Aveeno items start at $6 for the body wash and lotion. I could go back and get 2 lotions and 2 body washes but I'm afraid I won't end up using the body wash or the lotion. I plan on giving the lotion I bought today to my mom since she uses it. I could go back and get 2 lotions and give them to my mom and get 2 body washes and give them to my sister.

So let me work this scenario out.

Already purchased:
Aveeno Positively Ageless lotion - $7.00
Aveeno Positively Ageless sunscreen with bonus lip care - $10.99
Aveeno Positively Ageless sunscreen with bonus lip care - $10.99
- $10 Aveeno coupon
Total - $18.98

Tentative exchange:
2 Aveeno lotions - $12
2 Aveeno body wash - $12
- $2 coupon x 4 ($8)
Total - $16

Now, is it worth the $2.98 for me to go back over there and wait in line and burn up my lunch hour?

CVS Scenario 6/16

Here's my game plan.

*3 Aveeno products (price unknown)
*2 Adult sun glasses (prices start at $5.99)
*Purex 3-in-1 laundry sheets @ $6.99

Estimated price unknown
Use $10 Aveeno coupon
(If Aveeno shave care will work with my $10 coupon, I also have a $1 CVS coupon to stack with it.)
Use $1 printable coupon and probably the mail in rebate form since I've heard from friends that this product isn't that great.
Use $6 ECB
Use $4 off of $20 CVS coupon
Total estimated out of pocket: unknown

Earn:
$10 ECB for Aveeno purchase
$10 ECB for sunglasses
$2 ECB for Purex

I will report back after 1:00 EST.

2 Irish Spring body wash - $4.99/each

Total out of pocket: $11.56 (yeah, not great but hubby is out of soap)

I saved $2.77 from the Twist N Lock.

I earned:
$4 ECB's for the soaps
$3 off of $15+ purchase

In my stash I have:
$3 off of $15+ purchase
$1 off of $5+ photo order

Transactions on 5/31/09 and 6/1/09 (updated 6/3/09)

Food Lion - bi-weekly grocery trip
Purchased 66 items
Total before savings and coupons: $188.98
Saved $26.02 on MVP sale items
Rendered $37.62 in coupons
Total savings of $63.64
Paid $125.34 out of pocket

I had several super deals that included 2 free Vitamin waters (they were on sale for $1 and I had two $1 coupons), Tyson's fresh chicken was on sale for $1.99 so I stocked up, Goldfish were buy one get one free (my daughters favorite snack), and Provolone cheese was on sale for $2.99/pound so I stocked up on that, too.

I earned several Food Lion coupons and $4 back on my next shopping trip. Food Lion has a promo going on right now when you buy Food Lion brand products. You can earn up to $10 back when you buy Food Lion's brand.

CVS Transaction - 6/1/09

I had a bunch of ECB's to use that were expiring this week. My husband needed an alarm clock, so I spend more than planned. Plus there was NOTHING I needed/wanted/would use that earned ECB's back this week. Not exactly thrilled with my CVS shopping the past two weeks. I did find some good deals that I couldn't pass up.

2 Campbells Tomato soups - $0.50/each
2 Ziplock Twist & Lock containers (3 pack) - $0.92/each (75% off!!)
2 CVS AA batteries - $6.49/2 (buy one, get one free)
Reeses Peanut Butter Cups (8 pack) - $1.50
Kit Kat (8 pack) - $1.50
CVS snack size bags (like Ziplocks) - $1
CVS sandwich bags - $1
Timex Clock Radio - $19.99 [I will probably return this because I don't think it's what my hubby wants]
White Rain hairspray - $1.49

Used:
$1 off of 2 Campbells coupon (see previous blog entry for link)
$3 off $15+ purchase coupon
$12 in ECB's

Total out of pocket $21.00

So basically, I just paid for the alarm clock and the sandwich bags.

But if I return the alarm clock, it will only be $1 out of pocket.

I earned a $3 off of $15+ purchase coupon and $1 off of any Photo Processing order of $5+. I wonder if that includes digital pictures that I print??

**EDITED: I returned the alarm clock and got $21.19 back in cash. So I got all of the items above except the alarm clock and made $0.19 off of it.**

CVS Transaction 5/26/09

I totally blew it today. I was in such a bad mood that I started buying stuff that I didn't plan to buy. I finally convinced myself to leave the store with what I had.

Dry Idea Clinical - $7.99 (sale price)
*earned $4 ECB
Silicone Kitchen Brush - $1
Nexcare tattoo bandage -$4.29 (they only had one box in stock, so I couldn't use my coupon for $1/2)
*earned $2 ECB
Kit Kat - $0.89
Reeses - $0.89
Reeses Crispy - $0.89
- $2 Dry Idea coupon
Total out of pocket = $14.65

Earned:
$4ECB
$2ECB
$3 off of $15
$1 off CVS picture CD

I've got $6 ECB's left over from previous transactions, so I've got a good bit of money to spend next week (total of $12 ECB's and my $3 coupon). I'm hoping for some better deals next week.

Also, I looked all over the Dunkirk, MD CVS for those 1oz Neutrogena sun care products and found nothing.

CVS - Week of 5/25

Dear CVS,
You are not impressing me with your ECB deals lately. Bring on some good stuff that I need to buy!
Love,
Shelley

Deals for this week:

• Buy Colgate Total @ $2.99 and get $2ECB (pair this with a $1 printable)
• Buy Gain laundry detergent @ $5.00 and get $2 ECB
• Buy 10 Power Bars @ $10 and get $5 ECB.
• Buy any Nexcare Childrens Bandages and get $2 ECB. You can take this offer twice and get $4 ECB when you buy two packs of bandages. Here is a $1/2 printable.
• Buy Right Guard Clinical or Dry Idea Complete roll on at $7.99 and get $4 ECB (pair this with a $2 printable)
• Buy Vagistat 1 @ $12.99 and get $3 ECB
• Buy $10 worth of Thermacare Heat Wraps and get $5 ECB (here is a $3 Thermacare printable) I would print 2 or more and take the coupons with you. I'm not sure on the prices of the Thermacre products.
• Buy 2 Neutrogena Suncare products and get $10 ECB (rumor has it that there are coupons in the sun care pamphlet at CVS for $2 off) [I have also read on various blogs that there is a glitch that works in the shoppers favor. The glitch is to buy 2 of the 1oz Neutrogena SPF 55 sun lotions @ $1.99 each and earn $10ECB's.]

• Buy Coppertone sun care and get $2 ECB. I know there are coupons out there but haven't found any online yet.
• Buy 2 American Express gift cards and get $5ECB

So my only scenario this week is to buy two packages of Nexcare bandages, use my coupon, and get $4ECB's. I've got some ECB's to spend by the middle of June. But I'll probably just hold on to them until next week and see what kind of deals are out there. I might pick up some more Dry Idea deodorant but I haven't decided yet. I have a lot of deodorant at home.

CVS Transaction 5/22/09

2 Dry Idea deodorant's - 2/$5
Used 2 printable coupons. $2 off/each
Total out of pocket $1.12 (with tax)
Earned $2 ECB's.

I could have used a $1 ECB that I have but I didn't think it was worth it. I'll use it later.

I resisted the urge to buy $15 worth of Hershey's products. My pants thank me.
