In reading another blog, I thought I would share my 2 cents on saving money with national brands and wholesale stores.
I frequently shop at BJ's because we use a lot of diapers, wipes, Gatorade, etc. Here are some breakdowns on saving comparisons.
Product: Luvs Diapers, size 4
Price @ BJ's - $29.99 for 180 diapers (price per diaper $0.17)
Price @ Target - $38.99 for 180 diapers (price per diaper $0.22)
Savings of $9 per case/$0.05 per diaper
Let's estimate that you use 1 case of diapers a month. By purchasing Luvs at BJ's you will save $108 a year. And even by deducting the $40 membership cost, you still save $68 a year (assuming you only buy diapers at BJ's)! (Personally, we use about 1.5 cases of diapers a month.)
Product: Enfamil Lipil Powdered Formula
Price @ BJ's - $31.99 for 38oz can ($0.84 per powdered ounce)
Price @ Target - $25.99 for 25.7oz can ($1.01 per powdered ounce)
Savings of $4.40 per can/$0.17 per powedered ounce
Pair this with the $4-$7 Enfamil checks that are sent via mail (sign up at www.enfamil.com) and you save a ton!
Let's estimate that you use 1.5 cans of formula a week. By purchasing Enfamil at BJ's you will save $343.20 a year. (Oh man, I am excited now!!!!!!)
Product: Pampers Baby Dry, size 4
Price @ BJ's - $39.49 for 176 diapers (price per diaper $0.22)
Price @ Target - $44.99 for 176 diapers (price per diaper $0.26)
Savings of $5.50 per case/$0.04 per diaper
Pair this with Pampers coupons that are found in the circulars and the mail to save even more! And yes, BJ's does accept manufacturer's coupons!!!!!
Product: Crest Premium Whitestrips
Price @ BJ's - $27.99/28 strips
Price @ Target - $29.79/28 strips
Savings of $1.80. Not much but every little bit helps!
Not to mention the savings on paper towels, toilet paper, MILK!!!, laundry detergent, yogurt, and so much more. Anyway, there is my plug for BJ's.
Please note that I'm not endorsing BJ's and they aren't paying me. We just shop BJ's and Target a lot, maybe too much, so I'm proud to pass on the savings!
